wow ok so literally every post on this blog causes me to cringe so much that i have to lie down for an hour but since the new series is coming up i should should probably give a summary, so:
Prequel:
On September 15-16 there are 3D cinema screenings of Dark Water and Death in Heaven, and an 'exclusive' prequel entitled "The Doctor's Meditation" will be shown afterwards. And guess what! It's America only!!!!!!!! That makes perfect sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ESPECIALLY SINCE DOCTOR WHO IS A BRITISH TV SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's supposedly a prequel to TMA/TWF, but for some reason it's set in the Viking era/medieval times, like 'The Girl who Died' and 'The Woman who Lived'.

And a gang of peasants
Starts off with Clara still working at Coal Hill, which she stops at some point in the series. For some reason all the planes stop moving? I'm guessing that's Missy's way of 'communicating'. Clara goes to and/or is kidnapped by UNIT, Kate is there and understandably confused, then Clara goes to and/or is kidnapped by Missy. Missy tells Clara that the Doctor's missing, and they 'team up' to find him. This is the big dalek episode of the series, with loads of daleks from past episodes, and there was a planet in the trailers that looked suspiciously like Skaro. I presume that's where the Doctor's gone. At some point he makes a decision with 'cataclysmic repercussions', and at another point Clara points some sort of pointy thing at Missy, pointedly. Massive cliffhanger, of course, which is why they're not showing it in cinemas. Oh and also apparently there's a creature made entirely of snakes??? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Clara's face. That's always good to see.
Poor Kate. She must have discovered those weird fanfics on tumblr where people ship her with Malcolm Tucker for some reason.
Episodes 3 and 4, written by Toby Whithouse:
'Scary'. All of the weird looking creatures in red lighting from the trailers are probably from these two. Set in an underwater base with a bunch of eye-less zombie things. Involves ghosts, Moffat teased 'What if you could meet your own ghost?' The Doctor and Clara run from something. Guest actress Sophie Stone, who's deaf, will only speak through sign language, which sounds awesome! (sound probably wasn't the best word to use in that context)

I'm saying nothing.
I didn't plan on including this but I paused at the perfect moment
The Big Mysterious Masie Williams Episodes™ (still counting on Frobisher the shapeshifting penguin detective). First episode is set in the Viking era, the second in the seventeenth century, and apparently they're only very loosely linked. Antagonists include 'The Fisher King', played by a 7' 7" ex-basketball player, robots, a dragon, a fire-breathing cat, and the Norse god Odin. Throw in the creature made entirely of snakes from Magician's Apprentice and multi-bear from Gravity Falls and you have a perfect two-parter.
(Episode 5 is apparently a 'really good Doctor/Clara one' which could either mean character development or shippy and I'm not saying anything but... that hug from trailer one ... 😏)
Invasion of the Zygons/Inversion of the Zygons (Episodes 7 and 8), I'm going to stop trying to remember who wrote them now:
Acts as a sequel to the 50th, which means Zygons (obviously), UNIT, and Osgood!!! CLARA HAS A BAZOOKA. Since the events of TDotD, the Zygons have made peace with the humans, but then something goes horribly wrong. Osgood 'could be a companion', Capaldi teased, and in the end you never find out if Osgood is a Zygon or not. The UNIT berets return. Features a Zygon chase in a supermarket and a playground. Will probably end up being my favourite episode because I'll just spend the whole time begging for Osgood to be a companion and fawning over Clara Oswald with weapons.

Episode 9, written by Mark Gatiss:
One of those episodes that could be absolutely amazing, or could end up like Love and Monsters (which I personally think is underrated, but anyway). Consists entirely of phone/camcorder footage, and shows followers of the Doctor attempting to take down some alien thing. Some friend of Mark Gatiss with a beard that no one cares about is cast in this episode, as well as transgender actress Bethany Black (which tumblr gave a massive uproar of course, but DWTV didn't mention anything about it.... hmmmm... I wonder why............)
Episode 10:
Rigsy returns! The plot features 'glitches in reality', and was nicknamed by Peter Capaldi as 'the invasion of the invisible streets'. Took up a surprising amount of the second trailer: basically whenever you see the doctor with a red jacket, it's this episode. 'Clara's funny and the Doctor's outrageous', and 'Every scene ends on a cliffhanger'. Leads us in to the final two episodes.

I'm guessing these are the 'glitches in reality'?
Episodes 11 and 12, I presume written by Moffat:
No idea about the plot, because, you know, it's the finale, but the first episode has Peter Capaldi as the only cast member. I don't quite know how it will work, but an actor like Capaldi is sure to pull it off. Moffat has mentioned at least 30 times already that there will be a huge cliffhanger, definitely the biggest of the series, if not of all time. Something horrible is going to happen to the Doctor and Clara, which has been said by Moffat, but really is not hard to figure out for yourself. Will possibly address why 12 has the same face as Caecilius and John Frobisher. From filming pics we see that in episode 12, the Doctor has his guitar and Clara's in a waitress outfit for some reason? And it's filmed in the same diner as the Impossible Astronaut. My theory is that Clara's gonna die (which was pretty obvious), and the Doctor stumbles across one of her echoes at the end. Cue heartbreak and tears from me, and possibly other people, but mostly me.
